I know most of the midwives got emails but I wanted to pass this along especially for the students so that they can become birth registrars.

As a reminder, if you have been AOP-certified within the past 12 months, you may be eligible for AOP recertification online. Please visit the AOP-Certified Entities page https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/cs/aop-certified-entities for further details.

For a list of seminar locations, dates and times, as well as the registration form, please visit the AOP Training Seminar page at https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/cs/acknowledgment-of-paternity-aop-training-seminar. Please complete the registration form and fax it to the Paternity Outreach Coordinator in the area where you would like to attend AOP training.

Texas law requires annual certification for each individual who registers births and speaks with unwed parents about establishing a legal relationship between a child and his or her biological father using an Acknowledgment of Paternity (AOP) form. AOP certification is also a requirement for the Texas Vital Statistics’ Birth Registrar Certification. To become AOP-certified, you must pass a certification exam after participating in an AOP training course.

If you have any questions regarding the AOP program, please visit our website https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/cs/aop-certified-entities and contact the Paternity Outreach Coordinator in your area.
